Job Summary and Qualifications

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

As the Controller of Hospital Based Services (HBS), you will function as the HBS CFO's financial point person and strategic partner for the coordination and guidance of all operational reporting and analytics. Interprets HBS service line financial performance/results to identify opportunities to strengthen performance.

The HBS Controller provides strategic guidance and insight for new initiatives, analysis, daily operations, projections, and budgeting. Assumes a lead role in analyzing and exploring means of reducing operating costs and increasing revenues based on knowledge of market trends, financial reports and operating procedures.

Interacts with PS financial management teams including PHY Practice Operations CFO, PS service line CFOs and Controllers, and PS and Corporate Accounting.

Financial and operational activities include: financial analytics, reporting, financial proformas and projections, budgeting, policy support and development. This also includes participation in the month-end close process involving analytics, report preparation, MOR completion, and interaction with the Group CFOs/Controllers, as well as CSG President, CFO, and Controller.

REPORTS TO: HBS CFO

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Identifies and reports undesirable trends and potential business opportunities and makes recommendations for action with finance/operations leaders
  • Partners with senior leadership to develop and report standard financial data sets to help drive financial operation decisions
  • Prepares various reports which summarize and forecast business activity and financial position, including Monthly Operating Reports (MOR) to improve operating results
  • Assists HBS CFO in all areas assigned with emphasis on financial analysis, reporting, and proforma creation
  • Provides direction to group operations as needed with financial information requests and questions
  • Drives timeliness, accuracy and completeness of financial reports to meet specified deadlines
  • Provides financial oversight/analysis on corporate wide acquisitions
  • Prepares and coordinates distribution of monthly reports or returns required by regulatory agencies
  • Coordinates the annual budget process for HBS, including setting budget guidance and ensuring compliance with those directives
  • Ensures that all processing and reporting deadlines are consistently achieved
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality to ensure that privileged and/or proprietary information is adequately safeguarded against disclosure.
  • Participates in ongoing professional development activities to remain informed of changing industry trends and government regulations.
  • Drives and adheres to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement” standards.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor Degree required (preferred in Accounting or Finance)

EXPERIENCE:

  • Healthcare experience required
  • Minimum seven years of progressive accounting/financial experience required; preferably ten or more years' experience
  • Prefer five years in a physician practice management or healthcare-related environment.
  • Supervisory experience preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of accounting theory, principles and practices sufficient to identify and describe accounting systems and sub-systems
  • Knowledge of the financial accounting process
  • Knowledge of research techniques to analyze and evaluate financial data and information
  • Knowledge of accounting information systems
  • Proficiency with PC-based spreadsheet program - Excel, including the proficient use of Pivot Tables
  • Skill in exercising a high degree ofinitiative, judgment, discretion and decision-making to achieve organizational goals
  • Skill in identifying and resolving problems quickly
  • Effective organizational skills
  • Ability to interact and work well with Senior Management, all levels of management, and colleagues
  • Ability to identify and self-direct work appropriately
  • Ability to analyze financial reports
  • Ability to prepare statistical and narrative accounting reports
  • Ability to perform mathematical computations quickly and accurately
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written
  • Ability to organize work independently and consistently achieve reporting deadlines
  • Ability to pull and report data from MicroStrategy - preferred
  • Ability to pull and report data using the Essbase Add-In query function - preferred
