Service Desk Technician II IMSD - Information Management Services Division Full-time, Hourly Hourly Rate: $28.14 - $31.99 Job Summary: The Service Desk Technician serves as the first point of contact for IT related support, providing tier 1 & 2 client support for all technical issues relating to customer service, diagnosing issues, incident & request management, and problems through to resolution. A critical role of the Service Desk will strive to provide the best possible end user computing experience for all Milwaukee County employees, contractors, and vendors. Job Duties:
  • Providing exceptional customer service by actively listening to users, empathizing with their concerns, and maintaining a professional and friendly demeanor. Communicating effectively to gather necessary information, provide updates, and ensure user satisfaction.
  • Logging and tracking incidents in a ticketing system, ensuring accurate and timely documentation of user reported problems. Following established incident management processes to prioritize, escalate, and resolve issues within defined service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Assisting with the installation, configuration, and deployment of software applications, operating systems, and hardware components. Following standardized procedures and guidelines to ensure successful installations and upgrades.
  • Contributing to the creation and maintenance of a knowledge base or support documentation. Documenting common issues, solutions, and best practices to facilitate self-service for users and improve the efficiency of support operations.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Current Wisconsin resident at time of application.
  • Valid WI Driver's License and must be maintained throughout employment.
  • Associates Degree with at least one (1) year experience in Desktop Support and/or application support OR High School Diploma with at least three (3) years' experience in Desktop Support and/or application support
  • At least one (1) year of Customer Service experience
  • Knowledge of all related computer and software applications, such as word processing and spreadsheets
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of office/customer service principles, methods, and practices; oral and written communication skills; analytical skills, skill in data entry and in using a personal computer. Plan and work independently in a fast-paced environment; ability to exchange basic information with internal and/or external contacts. Must maintain sensitive or confidential information. Ability to make decisions of responsibility involving evaluation of information; decisions may require development or application of alternatives or precedents.
