Under the supervision of the Transfer Supervisor, the Transfer Program Assistant is responsible for communication with rescue groups and foster parents, promoting animals for rescue and foster, data entry, veterinary assistance, and customer service. Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for handling the day-to-day administrative duties of the Foster and Rescue program.
- Maintains communications with foster homes and Rescue partners on a regular basis. Schedules and monitors the return of animals for vaccinations, recheck exams, surgery, and off-site adoption and transfer events.
- Works in conjunction with the Transfer Department veterinary technicians to manage the Foster-To-Adopt program. Responsible for ensuring animals are spayed/neutered in a timely manner and the adoption process is finalized.
- Assists Transfer Department veterinary technicians and Rescue coordinator with making sure dogs leaving with rescue are ready to go and up to date on vaccinations, microchips and all medical records have been completed correctly.
- Assists in recruiting foster homes and Rescue partners through outreach efforts. Hosts foster orientations and assists with the rescue approval process.
- Participates in various educational programs such as off-site adoption events, vaccination clinics and volunteer programs.
- Assists in the recruitment, approval, and training of foster individuals.
- Assists in maintaining foster program and Rescue program statistics and reports monthly.
- Creates marketing materials for pets going to foster, transport and/or transfer.
- Other duties as assigned, including special tasks involved in responding to an emergency event.

Education:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience:- At least six (6) months of experience in a position involving customer service, community relations, relationship building or training.
- At least six (6) months of experience in animal sheltering, animal care or animal welfare.
Computer Proficiency:- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook & Teams)

Hours- Full-Time; 40 hours per week. This position requires flexibility in schedules.
Work Environment- This job operates in a professional office environment and an animal shelter environment.
- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
Physical Demands- Will be required to bend, lift, stoop and stand for long periods of time.
- Frequent lifting of animals or materials up to 50 pounds.
- Consistently exposed to animals and animal allergens under conditions with limited alternatives available.
