Summary of Position

The Director of Revenue and Reservations is responsible for maximizing revenue and profits, minimizing costs, optimizing room bookings and ensuring a seamless reservations process through superior quality customer service across room, restaurant, and spa reservations, through all contact methods.

Roles and Responsibilities

Job duties include; although are not limited to:

  • To be responsible for managing and optimizing MHG's rooms revenue and achieving determined budgets and RGI.
  • To complete/compile and analyze weekly and monthly forecasts & reporting, to make subsequent recommendations/actions, ensuring timely delivery and accuracy (to 5 %). Monitor market share premium, ensuring targeted RevPAR premium & position is achieved and maintained.
  • To be responsible for updating, maintaining & utilizing IDeaS to identify trends and optimize revenue and profit.
  • To assist in identifying opportunity/stretch, determine the sales strategies and communicate with all relevant departments at Hotel level.
  • Prepare and present reports for hotel leadership, corporate teams, and ownership, demonstrating progress toward forecasted goals.
  • To establish and maintain effective and rational pricing strategies for transient and group rooms to optimize RevPAR and monitor and analyze competitor pricing, strategy, product and positioning.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive revenue management strategies to optimize room revenue and overall financial performance.
  • Conduct regular market analysis and stay informed about industry trends to identify revenue-generating opportunities.
  • To establish, monitor and maintain strategies by channel.
  • Pricing and positioning across all distribution channels, proactive analysis and decision-making and promoting a ‘revenue management' culture.
  • To contribute to the budgeting process and development of the business plan.
  • Conduct weekly Revenue Strategy meeting providing insights on current booking periods and leading discussions on future strategies. Within the ‘RM' Meeting group foster a revenue focused team spirit that ensures revenue management decisions are subject to both analytical robustness and operational and management savvy.
  • To have a comprehensive understanding of ALL related IT systems & software (Opera, RVNG, Cendyn, Salesforce, Windows Applications, IDeaS, TravelClick suite of reports, Lighthouse, Mitel, RezQueue, Book4Time, OpenTable etc.).
  • To be responsible for regular communication and feedback on all revenue management issues (business mix; demand; pricing etc.) to the Global Head of Revenue & Reservations
  • Develop and manage an efficient, cost effective and productive reservations team through motivation, coaching, training, and performance.
  • Provides revenue management functional expertise and leadership to general managers, property leadership teams and market sales leaders.
  • Oversee the reservations team and reservation systems to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and exceptional guest service.
  • Implement and maintain best practices for reservation processes and customer interactions.
  • Lead and develop the revenue and reservations team, providing guidance and support to achieve revenue targets.
  • Foster a collaborative and results-oriented culture within the department.
  • Instill sound product knowledge and selling skills in the reservations team in order to increase conversion and optimize rate to maximize revenue.
  • Continuously monitor, analyze, and evaluate the contact centre performance (all KPIs) to ensure fluid proactive and reactive adjustments to strategy and performance management.
  • Review reservation processes continuously and operating procedures to ensure that the Contact Centre is running in a cost-effective and efficient manner.
  • Work closely with the Revenue, Marketing and Sales team in anticipating, assessing, and meeting the reservations system and service needs of our customers to maximize business potential.
  • Oversees the processes associated with: demand, revenue, budgeting, forecasting and opportunity analysis (to include seasonality, competitive positioning, market share and displacement) and inventory management.
  • Determines and is accountable for, the Hotel's sales strategy and pricing for transient and group, ensuring both are effectively implemented.
  • Identifies future opportunities and effectively communicates strategies to relevant areas in the Hotel and the Corporate Office.
  • Handle guest complaints in a mutually satisfactory manner for the guest and the Company whilst adhering to departmental guidelines for handling such instances.
  • Identify and communicate industry innovations and assessment of innovations.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining good relationships with suppliers, travel partners and all other key stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven experience in revenue management and reservations, preferably in a luxury hotel setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of revenue management principles, distribution channels, and reservation systems.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and formulate strategic recommendations.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of (5) five years of experience in revenue management and reservations in the hospitality industry.
  • Proficiency in using revenue management systems and analytics tools.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move about the hotel for extended periods.
  • Physical stamina to oversee various aspects of reservations and revenue management operations.
  • Visual acuity to review and analyse data on computer screens.
  • Capability to lift, carry, and move equipment as needed.
  • Auditory ability to communicate effectively in a busy hotel environment.
