About this Job

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Tax Attorney to lead the day-to-day operations of BRAYN's Tax Audit Resolution (TAR) services while keeping management abreast of all major tax law changes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage operations of the firm's TAR services, including tax controversy, audit defense, and appeals
  • Drive audits and appeals to final resolution with taxing authority and client
  • Manage portfolio of TAR projects, including regular communication with clients and taxing authorities
  • Prepare audit correspondence, such as information document request responses and protest letters
  • Advise clients on audit process, timelines, pitfalls, and strategy
  • Support BRAYN's TAR practice growth initiatives
  • Provide training, direction, and supervision to TAR staff
  • Develop and maintain technical expertise in BRAYN's specialty tax services
  • Assist in development of new service offerings
  • Lead planning, production, and training meetings for the TAR team
  • Keep management apprised of ongoing audits and relevant federal and state tax law changes and court decisions
  • Assist in settlement negotiations with taxing authorities
Qualifications / Skills
  • Required
  • Licensed to practice law in United States
  • 8+ years of working experience
  • 3+ years of tax experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent decision making and critical thinking skills
  • Preferred
  • 3+ years of specialty tax experience in areas like R&D credits, 179D, 45L, and cost segregation
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or taxation
  • Prior public accounting experience
