We are undergoing an exciting evolution and expansion, and the Medical Administrative Assistant will greatly expand the operational capacity, allowing us to serve more of the DMV's orthopedic and performing arts clients.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Performance Plus is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Medical Administrative Assistant(MAA) to join our team. THe MAA will report to the Clinic Owner. The MAA will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the clinic, with a focus on scheduling, patient communication,administrative tasks - including billing, financial records, Insurance claims and back-end data tracking management. This is a part time role that will start as virtual and move to a full time, in person role towards the end of the year. This role is a highly visible member in the office and business serving as a welcoming and approachable presence for all patients and clients.
Responsibilities:
- Greet patients and visitors with professionalism and empathy.
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments using electronic scheduling systems.
- Maintain patient records and update information as needed.
- Handle medical billing and insurance claims processing.
- Coordinate patient referrals to specialists and other healthcare providers.
- Assist therapist with administrative tasks as required.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Answer phones and direct calls as appropriate.
- Manage receivable and payable accounts and maintain financial records
- Manage office inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Perform other administrative duties such as filing, faxing, and data entry.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred.
- Proven experience as a medical administrative assistant or similar role in a healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of medical billing procedures and insurance guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Interest or prior experience in orthopedics a plus
- Prior experience in supporting outpatient orthopedic clinics strongly preferred.
- The position requires a high level of judgment, the utmost attention to detail, customer service, organization, and ability to multitask and prioritize. The position also maintains a high level of confidentiality.
- Ability to utilize project management tools and processes.
- Demonstrated experience in tracking projects with multiple deliverables and variable deadlines.
- Ability to work with a high degree of independence, and learn information quickly and accurately.
LOCATION: The office is located downtown DC. Candidates will be working virtually/ remotely with the expectation of moving to in person / onsite work at the end of the year as we grow/move to a new site.
HOURS: Mon- friday 5 hours/ day. Start time is negotiable.
SALARY:
● Employment Status: Part-Time Independent Contractor
● Pay Range: $19-$23 depending on experience (DOE) and skills
ONBOARDING PROCESS
● Candidate will undergo a 2 week training process
● Successful Completion of a Background Screening will be required as a condition of hire.
● Participate in mandatory onboarding training sessions
