Overview:
The Lead Patient Financial Services Specialist will oversee the process of collecting payments and managing A/R.
The main responsibilities for this role includes issuing invoices, A/R management of accounts, customer service, and leading the Patient Financial Services team. This individual will ensure timely and accurate invoicing and collections occur. The Lead Patient Financial Services Specialist will be required to interface with both operational managers, key program staff, and families. Responsibilities:
- Provide oversight the Patient Financial Services department and actively participate in workloads to remain a subject matter expert in all things related to the department.
- Make recommendations on workload assignments.
- Ensure objectives for accounts receivable team are met.
- Make recommendations to improve quality of invoicing and collection procedures.
- Assure timely and accurate processing of invoices.
- Ensure timely collection of payments and keeping accurate records and reporting on collection activities.
- Provide assistance to Patient Financial Services Specialists when accounts require escalation.
- Negotiate with clients in non-payment cases to resolve invoicing and customer credit issues.
- Ensure completion of Patient Financial Responsibility calls to familiarize families with the invoicing process.
- Ensure a form of automated payment is obtained for newly admitted clients in the form of a credit card or ACH on file for tuition invoices.
- Ensure a form of automated payment is obtained to cover incidental charges.
- Make recommendations on adjustments, refunds, and outside collection activity in alignment with company policy and procedures.
- Monitor assigned accounts to identify overdue payments; issue refunds on overpayments, process and review adjustments, and reduce delinquency.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 3-5 years prior work experience in Accounts Receivable, preferable in a medical or behavioral-healthcare environment.
- Medical billing background a plus.
- Leadership experience and skills to compliment the duties of the role
- Working knowledge of Windows-based applications, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Hands-on experience with accounting software and familiarity with MS Excel to include strong analytical skills.
- Strong and professional communication skills.
- Skilled in negotiation and problem-solving aptitude.
- Patience and ability to manage stress and maintain confidentiality.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High School/GED required, Associate's degree preferred.
