Purpose

This position plays a key role in providing a clear understanding of manufacturing performance to management, which will allow for timely and informed decision making for the Manufactured Components plants. TimkenSteel Manufactured Components transforms steel tubes and bars through additional cutting and machining processes that support our customers' needs. This position will also assist the Operations Controller with management of TimkenSteel's overall manufacturing performance. This position requires a solid cost and manufacturing background and a focus on continuous improvement. Excellent communication across the organization, along problem solving and initiative - with a strong desire to analyze, investigate, and resolve - are essential elements for success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and partner with Plant Management in assessing plant performance, including preparation of monthly financial reports related to gross margin, suppliers, cost center spend, and other ad hoc analysis as needed.
  • Month end closing activities which include, but are not limited to, preparation of monthly memos, journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
  • Preparation of the annual operating business plan and ongoing forecast for the Manufactured Components business.
  • Oversee inventory management related to items such as annual physical inventory completion, reporting and trending, monitoring the in-transit inventory balance, and OSMI process.
  • Lead and partner with Plant Management and IT in the development of the annual standard cost setting process as well as ongoing management throughout the year.
  • Support the development of cost analyses for new products; lead/direct any required changes to SAP.
  • Actively manage the capital budget for the Manufactured Components business. Includes AR generation, project investment analysis, monthly spend tracking, and cash usage timing.
  • Direct the annual physical inventory review of the company's fixed assets. Summarize financial impact and report results to management. This requires up to 15% travel during Q4 of each year.
  • Administer all other ad hoc and ongoing assignments as assigned by the finance management team.
  • Support quarterly and annual internal, external and SOX audit requests which includes analysis and sign off of the 302 Certificate.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; with 5 years of experience in cost accounting or finance; OR
  • Master's degree in business or related; with 4 years of experience in cost accounting or finance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; with 7 years of experience in cost accounting or finance; OR
  • Master's degree in business or related; with 5 years of experience in cost accounting or finance
  • CPA or CMA certification

Technical/Functional Skills

  • Experience in cost accounting and/or manufacturing environment
  • Strong analytical and variance analysis skills Excellent verbal and oral communication skills
  • Experience with ERP systems - SAP experience strongly desired
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills with an emphasis on Excel (pivot tables, data analysis, reporting)
  • Oracle Hyperion Planning experience a plus, especially the MFG module
