Job Responsibility:

The Junior Java Developer is responsible for development, integration, and implementation of applications software that supports the company business strategies and objectives. This position is considered an entry-level Java developer and will have novice technical skills. The incumbent acts as a technical resource charged with participating in the successful design, development, unit testing, and implementation of applications. This position will support the development of the payment platform used to take payment for Sherwin-Williams wholesale/retail stores, Sherwin-Williams Ecommerce and Customer Payments platforms.

Strategy & Planning

  • Acquire and interpret business requirements, create functional specifications, and determine the most efficient and appropriate technologies.
  • Work with peers to review standards to determine the design which best meets project requirements.

Acquisition & Deployment

  • Perform application development assignments based upon established programming standards, methods, and best practices.
  • Implement services, application, and database components for projects.

Operational Management

  • Maintain and modify applications; make approved changes by amending application documentation, developing detailed programming logic, and coding changes.
  • Provide support for application problems and issues.
  • Ability to learn new technical skills and gain business knowledge.
Incidental Functions
  • Project, task management and reporting, as necessary.
  • Assist with projects as required to contribute to the organization's efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Minimal travel is required, additional travel may be required on a project basis.
  • Work outside the standard office 7.5 hour workday may be required.

Formal Education & Certification

  • Associate degree (or foreign equivalent) in a Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology field of study (e.g., Information Technology, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, Computer Systems Management, Mathematics) or equivalent experience.

Knowledge & Experience

  • 0-1 years of IT experience.
  • 0-1 years of experience working on all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle.
  • Work with customers to build and formulate business requirements.
  • 0-1 years of experience in Java
  • 0-1 years of experience in RESTful Services.
  • 0-1 years of experience in Docker containers and Kubernetes.
