The primary purpose of this position is to provide clerical support to the entire DSS agency and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed and supervised under the supervision of the Processing Unit Supervisor. The normal work schedule includes Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Serve clients at reception window. Answer switchboard. Process and distribute all incoming mail for the agency. Printing and distribution of daily report from State. Distribute incoming faxes throughout the agency. Log returned Medicaid cards, check, WFFA, SA, EBT. After processing, remail to clients to new address, if available. Maintain all copiers- including ordering supplies, assisting with fixes if possible, calling for service. Log and receipt checks and prepare deposits. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: This position requires considerable knowledge of office procedures; the ability to practice effective communication techniques, both orally and in writing; the ability to analyze and interpret and explain policy and procedural guidelines and to resolve problems and questions; the ability to answer inquiries independently and coordinate a variety of resources in acquiring information. EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION: Graduation from high school and demonstrated possession of knowledge, skills and abilities gained through at least one year of office assistant/secretarial experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, speaking or hearing and using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires repetitive motions, and occasionally requires standing, walking and reaching with hands and arms; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels, work requires operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities; work is generally in a quiet location (e.g., library, private offices). This position is a part of the Cleveland County Public Health Center which is considered a Health and Human Services Department. By General Statue 166A-19.3, Departments of Health and Human Services are agencies that are a part of the State Emergency Response Team for occurrences or imminent threat of widespread or severe damage, injury, or loss of life or property resulting from any natural or man-made accidental, military, paramilitary, terrorism, weather-related, public health, explosion-related, riot-related cause, or technological failure or accident, including, but not limited to, a cyber incident, an explosion, a transportation accident, a radiological accident, or a chemical or other hazardous material incident.
