Job Responsibility:

MSU IT HR supports a dynamic and growing organization of over 700 IT professionals. We partner with IT leaders to support the people aspect of decisions, tactics, and strategies that advance IT's mission of providing the platform for Michigan State University to excel in research, education, and outreach.

The HR Administrator is responsible for supporting and coordinating the visa and permanent residency, hiring and recruitment, and employee relations processes for all professional, clerical, student, and temporary/on-call employees within MSU IT; responsible for classification and compensation reviews; serving as a resource to department supervisors and executive leadership; serving as a liaison to MSU Human Resources to manage and coordinate human resource activities associated with the employee lifecycle, and to interpret human resources policies, procedures and practices.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in managing human resource functions, designing and implementing training programs or human resource/labor relations management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. May require experience related to the field of employment.

Desired Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with HR hiring and recruitment.
  • Experience with the visa and permanent residency process.
  • Experience with a union environment and contractual bargaining agreements.
  • Knowledge of local workforce community and established networks in the region.
  • Experience with data collection analysis, and reporting.
  • Experience with multi-modality workforce models.
