    JobID: 4795 Position Type: Human Resources/HR BENEFITS ASSISTANT Date Posted: 1/16/2024 Location: PERRY TOWNSHIP EDUCATION CENTER HR Benefits AssistantPosition Purpose This position will provide a variety of administrative and clerical support to the Human Resources benefits department which primarily includes data entry for benefit deductions for newly hired, transferred, and terminated employees. Will also be responsible for filing, scanning, and mailing benefit information for employees and retirees as well as responding to general information requests. Oversees maintenance of benefit records for consistency and accuracy. Must provide excellent customer service. Essential Job Functions
    • Assists Benefits Specialist with data entry, form letters, invoicing and retiree payment follow up.
    • Checks data for recording errors and makes appropriate corrections.
    • Compares data with source documents or re-enters data in verification format to detect errors.
    • Stores completed documents in appropriate locations.
    • Verifies the accuracy of transactional data.
    • Scans documents for files.
    • Backs up HR Specialist for vacation and breaks to ensure employees have a resource for benefit inquiries.
    • Assists with responding to benefit inquiries from district staff members
    • Assists with open enrollment by going to employee job locations to assist with enrollment and questions.
    • Backs up HR secretary for vacation and lunch breaks.
    • Assists HR team members with special projects which may involve data entry, cross checking, and document review.
    • Assist with other duties as assigned.
    • Runs various reports upon request.
    • Assists with walk-ins.
    • Maintains HR documents electronically and in the HR office.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    Equipment Use standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copier and fax machines, calculator, and telephone) Travel Requirements: May travel to various school buildings to assist staff with software assistance. Pay Rate $19.48 per hour. Work Schedule 8 hours per day 260 days per year. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records and other office procedures and terminology.
    • Knowledge of principles for providing excellent customer service. Foster and maintain positive working relationships with staff and other personnel.
    • Knowledge of human resource practices preferred.
    • Excellent computer skills (Google and Microsoft Office Suite)
    • Attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Ability to communicate with diverse populations.
    • Ability to multitask.
    • Must maintain confidentiality of personnel and medical information
    • General knowledge of employment and labor law is a plus.
    • Ability to interpret policies and procedures.

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    Experience
    • Prefer experience in an office setting. Scanning information to include in the corresponding section of the personnel file requires demonstrated attention to detail.
    • Understanding of spreadsheet and database software systems to interpret data for data entry
    • Prior work experience in HR or payroll preferred with data entry experience.
