What YOU will do:
The Lead Benefits Specialist maintains and is responsible for the day-to-day administration of employee benefits and wellness programs. You will serve as the primary point of contact for health and welfare benefits, workers compensation, FMLA and disability. The Benefits Specialist informs employees on benefits matters regarding eligibility, coverage, and provisions, leave tracking and administration, and works with the HRIS team to maintain accuracy of the benefits data in various systems.
- Process and coordinate benefits enrollments, terminations, and changes for STENA HQ employees. Research and analyze eligibility data, including resolution of any data questions and/or issues with vendors, to ensure complete and accurate employee records.
- Advise and inform STENA HQ employees of the details of the company's benefit programs. Participate in new employee on-boarding and off-boarding for terminated employee with respect to benefits.
- Coordinate leaves of absence for STENA HQ employees.
- Liaise with vendors and other internal/external contacts to resolve benefit-related issues and respond to queries and requests in a timely manner.
- Maintain and update employee benefits records using benefits administration system.
- Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations. Ensure timeliness and accuracy of required reporting and fees.
- Develop, review, and analyze benefits reports, including costs and trends, and provide recommendations based on your analysis.
- Review benefit invoices for accuracy and process associated payments to benefit vendors. Coordinate payment approvals with internal company leaders and finance teams.
- Collaborate with payroll teams to ensure employer contributions and payroll deductions are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Identify, recommend, and develop methods and procedures to obtain greater efficiency and effectiveness to support the benefit programs. Work with the other benefits and HR team members to develop and implement continuous process improvement.
- In partnership with the Director of Benefits and broker/vendors, create communication materials, such as presentations and information packages, to keep employees and management updated on benefit programs.
- Prepare, collect, and organize data for internal and external audits as required.
- Complete benefits surveys, review/analyze the results, and make recommendations based on your analysis.
- Support annual open enrollment process and activities as required.
- Update policy and procedures /forms to ensure compliant distribution process are met and trackable
- Lead data collection needed to complete Government compliance activities and testing process.
- Ensure file feeds to and from vendors/ben admin and HRIS system are correctly reporting to each other giving correct analysis of company wide benefits
What YOU need:
- Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree Accounting, HR or related discipline preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years related experience required,
- Strong knowledge of Employee Benefit plan design, compliance, accounting and related administration required
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data and make appropriate recommendations
- Demonstrated ability to independently organize and perform work activities and to simultaneously handle multiple complex projects
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to prepare and deliver presentations ( advanced in powerpoint and excel)
- Strong computer skills, primarily with MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
- Demonstrated ability and experience with benefit administration platforms. Previous experience with SAP SuccessFactors or Benefit Focus is a plus.
- In depth understanding of state and local laws governing leave such as ERISA, HIPPA, COBRA, and FMLA to ensure compliance.
