THE POSITION

Looking to utilize your skills and experience in the food service industry? South Mountain Restoration Center is a long-term care skilled nursing home facility in the beautiful mountains near Michaux State Forest, and is operated by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Human Services. This job may be for you if you have experience in the modern methods, materials, practices, and procedures used in food preparation, production, and service, and inventory control, storing, and sanitation operations. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Food Service Supervisor, you will be responsible for assigning, coordinating, inspecting, and evaluating the work performed in food service and food production areas by daily on-site observation, to ensure residents receive food of optimum quality, that is served at proper temperatures, and under safe, clean, and sanitary conditions. You will train and supervise cooks and other food service workers, monitor working conditions and reconcile employee complaints or concerns. You will prepare and maintain personnel records such as time schedules, attendance, and performance evaluations. In addition, you will be in charge of requisitioning, receiving and inspecting food supplies and equipment, and preparing and maintaining records and reports. Interested in learning more? Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are a swing shift between 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a 30-minute lunch. This may change based on operational need.
  • Rotating on and off duty days including weekends and holidays.
  • Overtime: As needed

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years as a Food Service Worker and/or production experience, and an Associate degree with major course work in food production and food service; or
  • Three years of paid experience in food production and/or service and successful completion of a Certified Dietary Manager course; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which consists of experience in an institutional setting preparing specialized therapeutic diets, or course work in food production, food service or a related field.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
