POSITION SUMMARY: This Natural Gas scheduling position is responsible for monitoring, nominating, and scheduling natural gas transportation, purchases, sales, and storage volumes on pipelines and with local distribution companies The successful candidate will be located at MPC's regional office in San Antonio, TX, Tulsa, OK, or Denver, CO, and have diverse scheduling responsibilities across our natural gas positions around the country. The candidate will have direct interaction with a wide array of personnel within the organization, and will conduct business with pipelines, utilities, facility personnel, trading companies, natural gas suppliers, and other external partners. The applicant should be organized, self-motivated, team-oriented, and possess an entrepreneurial mindset. Must be able to work at a fast pace on a high-volume workload against frequent, established deadlines that may require working longer hours on nights or weekends as necessary. KEY RESPONSIBILITES:
  • Performs gas scheduling functions related to accurate & timely pipeline nominations in compliance with contract provisions, tariffs, timing, and procedures
  • Uses electronic bulletin boards to schedule product movement
  • Monitors & communicates pipeline operational information postings including changes to pipeline tariffs & local distribution costs
  • Maintains natural gas trading/scheduling spreadsheets & enters data into Right Angle
  • Resolves volume discrepancies & communicates supply changes
  • Optimizes & balances pipeline capacity, storage capacity, & imbalances
  • Reviews invoices for accuracy & coordinates closely with Accounting
  • Prepares daily and monthly reports indicating gas volumes flowed, transport imbalances, and storage balances
  • Communicates with traders, suppliers, customers, refinery operations personnel, & others to ensure alignment on strategy
  • Identifies ways to streamline processes & optimize positions to reduce costs and/or improve profitability
  • Problem solving, critical thinking skills, and personal resilience are a must
  • Above responsibilities notwithstanding, the final scope of the role will be determined by the experience level of the candidate selected.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • 2+ years of experience with natural gas and scheduling preferred
  • Will consider combination of education and prior related experience
  • 10% travel
